The following was presented to the IPBA during its Annual meeting and was received favorably by members:

Sometimes by contributing, one can help frame the discussion.

The proposal is to support our local Orca population and contribute to the research and public awareness of the impact on this population.

    In that:

    • Power boaters care about our local Orcas.
    • Insure any restrictions are based on actual science and thought
    • Help our members and others operate our boats without impacting Orcas, changing our boat operation to be respectful of our locals.
    • Possible partner with these organizations in their research.

Next Steps - develop this proposal for our January meeting.

The 2018 Stimson featured a weekend at SYC Port Madison Outstation with boats from Bremerton YC, SYC, MBYC, PYC and QCYC. Jim Korzetz and Navigator Dick Timmerman had the lowest score for the win. SOG was allowed, and contributed some low scores. The Bremerton Team posted the top 2 and 3 scores and ran away with the team trophy. Scores are available on the Stimson Contest site.

I posted a correction to overall south sound scores.  It was a data entry error, not a change in race results.

Our ICR was run out of Port Ludlow on Saturday July 7th and everyone who competed - won! The course vexed us with currents far different than published. Generally - everyone was slow for most of the second part of the course.

Jim VanAntwerp with OJ Potter won in the Sarah B with many of the faster boats subjected to more than predicted current. Much great boating, locating previously ignored features and great food! See you all at the Annual meeting at SYC and next year!
